These formulations are open-cast or molded with a special molding process. They, too, are cross-linked formulations.
Polyurethane comes in many forms. This section deals with cast urethane.
Wear, abrasion resistance, and toughness are the outstanding characteristics of cast Urethane. Extremely good resistance to weathering, excellent electrical properties, UV and radiation resistance are the dominant characteristics.
Cast urethane has more latitude in hardness, color ability and ability to create compounds design for your specific requirements. Formulations with a tailored resilience can create a super ball or a shock absorber.
Urethane's do not perform well in high humidity and steam applications and in high temperature applications .
